John Roddam Spencer-Stanhope (20 January 1829 - 2 August 1908), Pre-Raphaelite English painter.
He came from an aristocratic family and studied in Eton and Oxford. Despite his family's fierce opposition, he would become one of the most important English artists and especially the main follower of Burne-Jones. Even if he was older than Burne-Jones, Spencer-Stanhope was fascinated and influenced by him, although at a later stage he developped a personal style. He was also the student of G.F. Watts and travelled to Italy twice, settling in the last part of his life in Florence, where he painted several frescoes at the Anglican church there.
His compositions are mainly mythical and alegorical scenes, with a strong sense of color.
