1. As with many of the famous bands from that time the Beach Boys was not the first chosen name. Not even the second. They used Kenny and the Cadets, then changed it to Carl and the Passions, finally settling to the Pendletones. Only after a while they decided to once again chose a new name, and mainly because they really liked the beach and the parties it was a choice easily made. 2. A musician, songwriter, singer, Brian Wilson is still considered today one of the main influences in pop music, and his work with the Beach Boys is still being rediscovered by new generations. An even more impressive achievement considering that he is actually deaf in one year. So his legendary musical arrangements seem to be even harder to do that we previously thought.
3. And if you really like the "Wilson years" you might be happy (or sad) to know that according to semi-oficial sources there are about 50 or 60 tracks from that era still in the Beach Boys archives. And so far it if difficult to say if they will ever be used for some future release, or simply languish there forever and ever.
4. God Only Knows, one of their most successful songs, thought to be a real masterpiece (and not only according to Beach Boys fans) was actually written in less than an hour. Sure, there were details and tricks that took much longer than that during the recording, but the main part of the song was already done.
5. Pet Sounds is still thought of as one of the most influential pop albums of all times, but it was influenced, as Brian Wilson remembered by the Beatles album Rubber Soul. Wilson loved that record so much that he considered it to be simply perfect, so he wanted to write one that was as good as. And many say he succeeded.
