Disney has recently announced a future Star Wars trilogy, which will feature new characters and a new place in the galaxy which wasn't previously featured and also the possibility of producing sometime in the future a Star Wars TV series. Judging by the critical and box office succes of Rogue One and the excitement with which the fans are awaiting the next Star Wars movie, The Last Jedi, it is great news for all involved, and who knows how and where the story will take us. There is no date for when the first part of the new trilogy will hit the big screen (so far), but we know that the director for The Last Jedi, Rian Johnson, will not only direct it but will also write the screenplay. What we know is that in 2018 we will see the movie dedicated to the adventures of young Han Solo, and it is still an open debate how and if this will somehow be connected to the first seven parts of the franchise, or even the next three. Or will it all be a separate, independent story as Rogue One was?For some fans of Star Wars it was a surprise when J.J. Abrams passed to torch to Rian Johnson, who continued the story from The Force Awakens, and it will soon be in cinemas all around the world. How the heroes and villains from Star Wars 7 (counting from the first part of the second trilogy, yes, in might seem somewhat confusing) will go on in this new movie is anyone's guess, and surely most of those who will see it are mostly curious about the return of Luke Skywalker. The best part about a new trilogy is that the official piece of news is that those three movies are with completely new characters, places and maybe (wishful thinking) some important changes in the Star Wars mythos. And maybe, just maybe, at one point we might see the heroes from The Force Awakens or The Last Jedi meeting those in the future, yet unamed series of movies. It might be farfetched, yet who knows? Come to think of it nobody ever thought there would be another trilogy which was placed before the iconic first three movies, thus A New Hope becoming Star Wars 4 instead of the very first one. So anything is possible when it comes to the Star Wars Universe.
