The very first U.S. Mint was created on April 2 1792 by the Congress and would produce the first circulating coins one year later, in March 1793. And surely there are coin collectors who would give so much to have just one of this precious pieces of history. And if you worked there and had the audacity of stealing coins or even worse, making false one, you were punished by death. No pardon, no escape.

After being the witness of several fierce battles across hundreds of years, the Great Wall of China was the place for one final fight in 1938, during the Sino-Japanese War. You can still see some of the bullet marks at the portion of the Wall in Gubeikou.

We still don't know what happened to William Shakespeare from 1585 to 1592, the so-called "lost years". The main problem is that these are the years during which he moved to London, began his writing career and made himself known in the world of theatre. So maybe we will never know how this early part of his success really happened.

If you are a fan of the Harry Potter books you should know that the whole name of Dumbledore is Albus Wulfric Percial Brian Dumbledore. But this full and long name has several "secrets" in it. Dumbledore is actually an Old English word meaning bumblebee, while albus is Latin for white, Wulfric was a revered saint, while Percival is the name of one of the knights of the Round Table. Brian, the last piece of the puzzle, is Celtic and means "strong" or "powerful".

In the USA the most popular wedding destination is still Las Vegas, with over 100,000 ceremonies a year. A distant second place is Hawaii, with about 25,000 every year.

Among the several famous actors and actresses that have appeared in various films and episodes of the Star Trek franchise are Kim Cattrall, Jason Alexander, Christopher Plummer, The Rock, Joan Collins, Ashley Judd, Tom Morello and Famke Janssen. Even Mick Fleetwood and Stephen Hawking were at one time part of the series.

It was Pope Julius I, bishop of Rome, that proclaimed the day of December the 25th to be the official birthday of Christ and thus the day when all of Christianity shall celebrate. This happened in 350 A.D and was the first Christmas.
