Sinaia, Predeal, Poiana Brasov

These are three of the best, most popular and oldest mountain touristic resorts of Romania, and surely you will be amazed by their natural beauty, impressed by the high-quality standards and willing to return here. Once, twice or countless times again, for these three resorts have something special for every tourist. Ranging from sky slopes of the greatest quality, some historical landmarks - Sinaia being the best, with the Peles complex - great hotels, restaurants, places to hike and discover, everyone of these resorts is a must if you come to Romania.

Sinaia : in the western part of the Bucegi Mountain, not so far from the capital, Sinaia still is one of the best known and loved places in the country, as it has everything : gorgeus places, mountains, forests, places to hike and relax, restaurants and bars, a few shops, several elegant hotels and convenient motels. The best part is the Peles Castel, one of the most impressive historical monuments of Romania, taken from a fairytale of the old. This splendid complex was built by King Carol I, to serve as the summer residence of the royal family, and only later it became a museums, hugely popular all around the country. It's interiors are a splendid display of art, painting, sculpture, furniture, decorative elements, weapons and armous, personal objects of the kings, queens and princes of Romania. A must-see by all means, and it is no wonder that it is seldom not so crowded. As it is set in the Prahova Valley, Sinaia has a special, mountain atmosphere, and you can spend just a few days here or much more. A great summer or winter destination for all.

Predeal : for many, it is the second best among the Romanian mountain resorts, but Predeal has it's qualities which make it a close contender for the first place. 147 km from Bucharest, near the Bucegi Mountains, it is the highest town of the country, a great place for those who like hiking trips and a splendid choice for wintersports. If you prefer skiing, there are also a large number of chalets in the region, quite price-friendly and with moderately good conditions. It has little to offer in terms of history, but the beauty of the place, the mountains, the forests, the views and above all the atmosphere and the fresh, mountain air makes it all worth while. Predeal has always been a place for those who wanted to relax and enjoy themselves far from the maddening crowd and noise, and still is a favourite for many.

Poiana Brasov : due to it's closeness to another great and old Romanian city, Brasov, this mountain resort has long been a favourite for all, and especially in the last decades has been visited by foreigners and Romanians alike. Nowadays a resort preffered by the rich, it offers great hotels and restaurants, all high class, some interesting motels and chalets, great quality at a rather high price. The resort was actually founded in 1895 due to the quality of the ski slopes in the region, and since then has only grown and evolved. Actually, the place is the top for those who want to ski, being beginners or experts, as they find great snow. You can learn to ski here, as the teachers as very, very good.

The many hotels in Poiana Brasov are of international quality, worthy of the highest rankings and offering everything you could want, from indoor swimming pools to fast internet, conference halls, beauty saloons and so on. Great in summer and winter alike, you might find it rather crowded at times.
