John Rogers Herbert (23 January 1810 - 17 March 1890), English painter.
In 1826 he enrolled at the Royal Academy Schools in London and starting with 1830 he exhibited here, mainly portraits. Until 1836 he worked as a portraitist and book illustrator, then left for Italy. Upon his return his main subjects were Italian historical compositions.
A great admirer of A.W.N. Pugin, he converted to Roman Catholicism and his religious beliefs would dictate his choice of subjects over the next few years.
