He worked in the southern part of the Netherlands in a time when decorative art was very much in demand, but his success was due mainly top the fact that he was one of the first and most consistent followers of Rubens. De Crayer tried for all his artistic career to use the techniques and style of his master in a little personal way, which guaranted him the success.
