Traveling in South Australia, Barossa
Photo: Ststaxi.comThe Barossa Valley is located in the South Australia and it's a tourist destination and also a major wine producing region. Barossa is located at about 60 km northeast of Adelaide, the fifth largest city from Australia.
The name Barossa comes from the Barossa Rangers which were named so by the colonel William Light, a British military officer and first Surveyor-General of the Colony of South Australia, in 1837.
In Barossa there are three major towns, each with its own personality and traditions, dating from 1840.
In the 1840's when the first Germans arived in Barossa, they brought with them the art of smoking the meat, preserving fruits, making cheeses and wine.
After a long long time, these traditions are still strong and all the visitors who are coming here are stunned because of the good food, good wine and beautiful landscapes.
